OLYMPIAD CHESS STATISTICS 2022

The 44th chess Olympiad finally came to an end on the 10th day of August where the invincible Uzbekistan team emerged victors under the guidance of their coach and former top player Grand master Ivan sokolov. The average age of the team was 20yrs with their youngest player being 16yrs old. second and third in line were Armenia and Indian B team which also had very exceptional performances.

TEAM UGANDA

Uganda men’s which started with the initial rank of 90 out of the 188 competition team managed to finish the tournament in the 82nd position making it its best performance ever at the chess Olympiad.

The team under the lead of Fide Master Harold wanyama managed to hold down the Faroe island’s team who were favorites before the match to a 2.5-1.5 victory. The team comprised of as below

The final game results were as listed with Haruna producing the brilliant game of the round with beautiful combinational play.

44th Olympiad Chennai 2022 WOMEN

The ladies team comprised of Nakabo peninah, WCM Ampaire Shakira, WFM Nansubuga Gloria, Kawuma Patrica and Takali Milly.
Uganda Cranes also emerged the best team from East Africa ahead of Kenya, Tanzania, burundi and south sudan who finished in positions 130th, 149th, 175th and 92nd respectively.

The teams managed to bring home some chess titles in Egesa Emmanuel who was awarded the title of candidate master, Nakabo and Milly awarded woman Fide Master titles and Kawuma Patricia awarded Woman Candidate master which is a very great achievement for the federation under the watch and leadership of Eng. Mwaka Emmanuel.

To add on the ladies team being recognized as the best dressed and designed team with an award as indicated in the picture below.

Under God’s mercy, the team managed to travel back to Uganda safely on Thursday and the players will have a few rest days before resuming with club activities in the national league taking place on the 14th day of August at Kiwatule recreational center.
The 45th Olympiad will take place in Hungary as according to fide unless otherwise.
