UGANDA’S Team Uganda still unbeaten after 5 rounds.

The World Chess Olympiad, running from September 10 to 23, has turned into an exciting platform for
Uganda’s chess teams, the Chess Cranes and the Chess She Cranes. This prestigious event not only
showcases global chess talent but also serves as a qualifier for the World Cup, making every match
crucial.

Despite facing challenges at the start, both teams have shown remarkable resilience. Due to unfortunate
visa issues, the Chess Cranes and the Chess She Cranes missed the first two rounds of the tournament.
However, they bounced back in round three, delivering impressive performances. The Chess She Cranes
dominated Cameroon with a convincing 4-0 victory, while the Chess Cranes, although playing with one
less team member, managed a solid 3-1 win against Djibouti.

In the fourth round, the Chess She Cranes continued their winning streak by defeating Lebanon 3.5 to
0.5. The Chess Cranes, still competing with a reduced team, triumphed over Barbados with a score of 3-

  1. These victories marked two consecutive rounds without a loss for both teams, showcasing their
    determination and skill.
