UPDATES: 45TH WORLD CHESS OLYMPIAD IN BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Chess Team Uganda has obtained 7 additional visas but has struggled to re-book timely flights.
As a result, they might miss the first two rounds scheduled for September 11th and 12th, 2024,
since they are expected to arrive late on September 12th.

The Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) sends out an open call for support or where possible to use
the presidential jet, similar to what was arranged for Joshua Cheptegei during his athletics
championship a few years ago. This could enable them to participate in the initial rounds.
The first group of 8 team members is arriving tonight in Budapest but will have to wait for the
rest of the team. Two additional players are still waiting for their visas and are expected to travel
on Friday, September 13th, 2024, to complete the team.
The 45th World Chess Olympiad is scheduled to take place from September 10th to 23rd, 2024,
in Budapest, Hungary. Support the Uganda chess teams at the 45th World Chess Olympiad in
Budapest! Your encouragement will boost their morale as they compete internationally. Let’s
